Can You Go 82-0? Strategy Guide & Best Lineups
Updated June 2026
Going 82-0 in the NBA draft simulator is extremely difficult. Most players land somewhere between 70 and 80 wins, and a perfect season requires both a well-balanced lineup and solid overall team strength. It is rare — but it is possible with the right approach. Whether you search for 82-0, 82 and 0, or 820, the challenge is the same: build a team that dominates in every statistical category.
Why Most Teams Fall Short
The most common mistake is drafting five high scorers. You might end up with a team averaging 140+ combined points, but if your assists, rebounds, steals, or blocks fall below the threshold, you will not crack 80 wins — no matter how high your total score is.
The simulation engine evaluates your team across five dimensions: points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks. To go 82-0, you must exceed the minimum threshold in all five simultaneously. Failing even one category caps your ceiling. A team with monster scoring but weak defense might go 79-3 — close, but not perfect.
The Five Thresholds
Without revealing the exact numbers, here is what you need to know: scoring and rebounding thresholds are the easiest to hit with star players. Assists require at least one elite playmaker. Steals and blocks are the sneaky killers — they seem minor but are often the reason a great team falls short of perfection.
Era Adjustment Matters
The game adjusts stats for era. A player from the 1960s has their numbers multiplied by a lower coefficient than a 2020s player, reflecting different pace and play styles. This means a 1960s center averaging 25 rebounds might not contribute as much to your total as you expect. On the flip side, 2020s players get a slight boost.
One critical detail: steals and blocks were not tracked before the 1973-74 season. All 1960s players have zero steals and zero blocks in the database. Drafting from the 1960s gives you a potential scoring and rebounding boost but creates a hole in your defensive stats that other picks must fill.
Building a Balanced Lineup
The key is balance, not star power. You need at least one player who is an elite passer — someone with 8+ assists per game. You need at least one player who is a dominant rebounder. And you need players who contribute steals and blocks, even if their scoring is modest.
Think about archetypes: a playmaking point guard, a two-way wing who contributes steals, a rebounding big man, and a shot-blocking center. The fifth slot is your flex pick — fill whatever stat gap remains.
Using Era Skips Wisely
You get two Era Skips per game. The best strategy is to save them for the final two rounds. By round four, you know exactly what your team is missing. If you need blocks and the slot machine gives you the 1970s, you can skip to a decade with better shot-blocking options.
Burning skips early is almost always a mistake. You do not know what you need until you see what you already have.
Daily Challenge Tips
In Daily Challenge mode, everyone gets the same five decades. This means the optimal strategy can be discussed and compared. Check the leaderboard after you play to see what the top scorers picked. Over time, you will develop an intuition for which decade combinations have 82-0 potential and which are capped at 75-78 wins.
